Toyota

A Classic,Designed for Today

ABOUT

Toyota

Toyota is one of the largest automobile manufacturers globally, known for its wide range of vehicles spanning from compact cars to full-size trucks and SUVs. Founded in 1937 by Kiichiro Toyoda, Toyota has grown into a multinational corporation headquartered in Toyota City, Japan.

Project Description

This project is about developing a robust data visualization platform that enhances impact assessment capabilities for executives, supporting strategic decision-making. This platform allows users to upload baseline data for various dimensions and measures manually, adjust parameters dynamically to analyze the impact on key metrics, and compare multiple portfolios to evaluate different scenarios.

By leveraging the expertise of Kaizen Analytix™, the project provides Toyota with tailored solutions that harness the power of data analytics to gain invaluable business insights. My role involved gathering client requirements, collaborating on the design process, and facilitating iterative improvements to meet project objectives effectively.

Research Phase

During the research phase, workshops were conducted with Toyota to comprehend their needs and gather insights into user requirements. Working with Kaizen Analytix offered a data perspective, while involving developers early on ensured the consideration of technical feasibility from the beginning.

Key outputs from the research phase include:

  • SWOT Analysis
  • Action Plan
  • Application flow
  • User Persona

User navigates to data upload, clicks 'Upload Data', selects baseline data file, chooses analysis start year, system uploads data and loads baseline data from selected year.

User adjusts parameters using sliders in the data adjustment section, observing impacts on ROS, Volume, and CM. The system dynamically updates impact calculations and automatically saves adjustments as Scenario 1.

The user selects the calculation output type (P/U or TTL) with radio buttons. System updates displayed outputs accordingly.

Users can create and compare scenarios with adjusted data, save them for comparison, select criteria for comparison, and view calculation outputs in a system for scenario analysis.

User Persona for Power User

Wireframes

Wireframes were meticulously crafted to address the specific needs and goals of the Power User identified earlier. By customizing the wireframes to cater to the requirements of this persona, we aimed to ensure that the final user interface design would comprehensively meet the needs of the Power User.

Final Deliverables

A collection of high-fidelity mockups presenting the Toyota Insights Platform's user interface design, including dashboard, data modules, analytical tools, and visuals. Stakeholders use these visuals to understand layout, flow, and aesthetics for informed decision-making.

Conclusion

Upon reviewing this project, we have acquired valuable insights. The extensive design and discovery phases have underscored the significance of effective time management. Our iterations, especially concerning data visualization on charts spanning extended periods such as 10 years, have been thorough.

Despite time limitations, prioritization has guaranteed that crucial aspects were tackled. Looking ahead, we will persist with an iterative method to improve efficiency and stakeholder contentment.
