Project Description
This project is dedicated to managing and visualizing global risks and incidents that may impact business operations, travellers, partners, and employees linked with Booking.com. The dashboard allows stakeholders to monitor and respond to incidents in real time, thereby ensuring the safety and security of all parties involved.
Research Phase
Since this was merely a conceptual prototype to visualize our ideas, we promptly organized a workshop with actual users to grasp their needs. Below, you will find questions and answers from the session.
The following questions are designed to address various aspects, from grasping the current challenges users face to their preferences regarding the new tool.
User
Needs and Preferences
What are the key features you expect from this platform?
We need real-time updates on global incidents, an easy-to-navigate interface, and the ability to filter incidents by category (e.g., security, political, public health).
How do you typically respond to global incidents currently?
We rely on multiple sources of information and use spreadsheets to track incidents, which is time-consuming and often outdated.
Pain Points and Challenges
What challenges do you face when managing and responding to global incidents?
The biggest challenge is the lack of real-time information and the difficulty in quickly assessing the impact of incidents on our operations and travellers.
Can you describe a recent incident that was difficult to manage and why?
During a recent political protest, we struggled to get accurate, timely information, which delayed our response and caused confusion among our travellers.
What improvements would you like to see in your current incident management process?
We need a centralized dashboard that consolidates information from multiple sources, provides real-time updates, and allows for quick communication with our team.
How would a tool like this dashboard impact your daily operations?
It would significantly improve our efficiency, allow us to respond faster to incidents, and ensure the safety of our travellers and assets.
Desired Outcomes and Improvements
What kind of design or interface would make this tool most useful for you?
A clean, intuitive interface with easy navigation and customizable filters. It should also include visual elements like maps and graphs for better data visualization
Are there any specific visual elements or features you find particularly helpful?
Interactive maps with incident markers, colour-coded categories, and a notification system for real-time alerts would be very helpful.
